Type Locality and Naming

Near the village of Kibray, Uzun-Mashat River, Duantau Mountain, western part of the Talas Alatau Range. O.I. Sergunyukova, 1959 (382, p. 64). Stratotype on the watershed of the Irysu-Kazanchukur rivers, slightly east of the sources of the Mashat River, near the village of Kibray, western part of the Talas Alatau Range. Upper formation in Pskem Gr.

Synonym: Kibray Suite, Kibrayskian, Кибрайская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Medium-bedded mudstone-detrital, bryozoan-crinoidal, biosparitic limestones with numerous siliceous inclusions in the form of nodules and lenses. Thickness 210-560m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies conformably on the Kshikanidyan Fm

Upper contact

is conformably overlain by the Ispay Fm (Tkachev et al., 1992; 1996; 439; 460) and the Itelguin Fm (in Chatkal range only), Along V.V. Mikhailov (460).

Regional extent

Southwestern spurs of the Talas Alatau Range, Ugam, Pskem, Sandalash Ranges.

Brachiopods - Verkhotomia plena (Hall.), Spirifer baiani Nal., Dictyoclostus crawfordsvillensis Well.; foraminifers - Ammodiscus (?) ex gr. priscus Raus., Planoarchaediscus Spirillinoides (Raus.), Uralodiscus rigens C. et L.; conodonts - Gnathodus praebilineatus Bel., Lochriea commutata (B. et M.).
